Q. Can you Give me Some Answers About Suicide?

A. Ezekiel 18:32 “For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies” says the Lord God.  “Therefore turn and live!”  NKJV

Ezekiel 18:32 “I am not pleased when people die.  I want you to live, so repent and change your ways.”  Clear Word

In following the Hebrew, He is basically saying:  I have no pleasure or delight in violent dying, thus convert and then restore oneself.

“Passages of Comfort” when someone is thinking of suicide:

Regardless of how dark the future may appear to you right now, remember, God will never abandon you.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 TLB (The Living Bible) “We are pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed and broken.  We are perplexed because we don’t know why things happen as they do, but we don’t give up and quit.  We are hunted down, but God never abandons us.  We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.”

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 NKJV  “We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.”

You are of great value to God.  Luke 12:6-7 NKJV “Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins?  And not one of them is forgotten before God.  But the very hairs of your head are numbered.  Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

God cares about you and is thinking of you constantly.  Psalms 139:17-18 NKJV “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!  How great is the sum of them!  If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.”

You have been promised a marvelous future.  Jeremiah 29:11-14 NIV “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity….”

Jesus will help you when you burdens are too heaven to bear.  Psalms 55:22 NKJV “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you….”  Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV “Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

You are not alone in thinking about wanting to die.  Several men in the Bible felt the same way.  Numbers 11:14-15 NKJV Moses said, “I am not able to bear all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me.  If You treat me like this, please kill me here and now—“An event in the story of Elijah is recorded in 1 Kings 19:3-4 NKJV “…. He arose and ran for his life….But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom vine.  And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough!  Now, Lord, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!”

If you feel overcome with fear, God will help you.  Isaiah 41:10 NKJV “Fear not, for I AM with you; Be not dismayed, for I AM your God.  I will strengthen you.  Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”  Joshua 1:9 NKJV.  “Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

God will never forsake you even if everyone else has.  Psalms 9:10 NIV “Those who know your name will trust in You, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You.”  Psalms 46:1-3, 7 NKJV.  “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear, even though the mountains be carried in the midst of the sea; The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.”

God offers you peace of heart and mind.  John 14:27 NKJV.  “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you, not as the world give do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”  Isaiah 26:3 NKJV “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trust You.”  John 16:33 NKJV.  “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

With God’s help, keep your heart and mind focused on positive thoughts.  Philippians 4:8  “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
