Vegan Garden Herb Cheese Spread


  • 2 c. hot water
  • 1/2 Tbsp. agar powder
  • 1 c. raw cashews
  • 2 Tbsp. nutritional yeast flakes
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. ground mustard
  • 4 cloves chopped garlic
  • 1/4 c. cut fresh basil
  • 1/4 c. cut fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 c. green chilies

For Cheddar Spread Add:

  • 1/4 c. roasted red peppers
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric


  1. Cook agar powder in water until thickened, about 2 minutes.
  2. In blender combine cashews, yeast flakes, lemon juice, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, mustard, chopped garlic and cooked agar.
  3. Add roasted red peppers and turmeric if making the cheddar style.
  4. Blend until very smooth. Add herbs and chilies and pulse until mixed.
