Grilled Lemon-Basil Tofu Burger


  • 1 lb. firm or extra-firm tofu, pressed for a couple of hours and cut into 4 slices 

Lemon Marinade:

  • 1/3 c. finely chopped fresh basil
  • 1/4 c. fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 2 Tbsp. honey
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tsp. lemon rind
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. red pepper

Olive Relish:

  • 3/4 c. finely chopped pitted kalamata olives
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 Tbsp. vegan sour cream
  • 3 Tbsp. veganaise


  1. Whisk ingredients for lemon marinade together and set aside to mariate for at least a couple of hours.
  2. Dip tofu in marinade and refrigerate overnight. Fry in a little olive oil until browned.
  3. Combine olive relish ingredients and mix. Spoon a little olive relish on each slice of tofu.
