Gingerbread Ladies & Gentlemen


  • 2/3 c. canola oil
  • 1 c. light brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 1/2 c. almond milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 c. all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. ground cloves
  • pinch of allspice
  • 1/2 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp. ground ginger


  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine oil, almond milk, vanilla and molasses and mix well.
  2. Add remaining ingredients, adding flour last, and mix well until a soft dough is formed.
  3. Wrap and refrigerate for an hour or two. Roll out on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.
  4. Cut into shapes and placed on oiled baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 – 12 minutes.
  5. Decorate with dried fruit and pieces of fruit leather cut into bow ties for the gentlemen and skirts for the ladies.
