Brown Gravy


  • 4 c. water
  • 3/4 c. oil
  • 1+1/2 Tbsp. nutritional yeast flakes
  • 1 Tbsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 c. Bragg’s Liquid Aminos
  • 2 Tbsp. McKay’s beef-style seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp. caraway, ground
  • 1/2 Tbsp. ground basil
  • 3 drops liquid smoke
  • pinch of cayenne
  • 1/2 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 3 Tbsp. white wheat flour
  • 1 tsp. kitchen bouquet


  1. Put all ingredients except cornstarch and flour into a medium saucepan and bring it to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix 1 cup of water with cornstarch and white wheat flour. Add this to the saucepan and whisk with a hand whisk till thickened.
