Q. Is Masturbation Wrong?

When God created man He created man in His image (Holy or righteous).  Everything God created was used for its intended holy or right purpose.  When Satan got a hold of God’s creation, Satan perverted everything he could.  Music became more unheavenly, food became more unhealthy, and man’s behavior became more unholy etc.  God through His word is calling us back to the holy relationship with Him from which we fell.
1Co 6:9  Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves…shall inherit the kingdom of God.  [(abuse = misuse) (misuse of themselves)]

We should pray for a Godly spouse that we may be equally yoked and allow God to fulfill the sexual need He gave us in the proper manner.  In this way, we remain in His favor and continue to be blessed.  When we choose to satisfy a God given need in our own way, we fall short of God’s holy intended purpose.  This is an unholy use of self, (self-abuse).  This pleases Satan because this addiction to sin replaces blessing with curse.  Deut. 11:26 “Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;   A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:  And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God…”  Self-abuse is infidelity toward God before and after marriage, and one’s spouse after marriage and its reward is curse not blessing.

Self-abuse needs to be replaced with self control.  It is good to desire a good thing but when desire gets out of control, it becomes lust.  Lust is desire that is unrestrained.  We become addicted which gives Satan control of us.  A lack of control leads to sin.  Please take note of God’s advice.

Jas 1:14  But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Jas 1:15  Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Ga 5:16  This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

This principle may be applied to other things as well.  Take food for example, to desire a favorite flavor is the very reason why God gave us flavors, to assure we could find one we enjoy.  But to lust after it without control would be playing into Satan’s hand.  One could end up weighing 380 pounds and die of a heart attack prematurely.  This would be an unholy use of God’s holy gifts of body and food that lead to curse.

Keep in mind that the intimate relationship between a man and a woman is meant to be Holy and we should keep it Holy as it is a gift from God.  (“Holy Matrimony”)
