What It's All About

by John Dinzey

It’s time once again to say, “Happy anniversary, 3ABN Latino!” Yes, nine years ago 3ABN Latino was launched, and thanks to God it continues to grow, adding impressive numbers of affiliates every year.

I still marvel at how God makes this happen over and over again, confirming the words written by Peter so long ago: “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9.

God Uses People

God uses a variety of people to get us added to cable companies.

He uses pastors who see the benefit of having our programming available in their area. After watching 3ABN Latino for a while, viewers literally walk into their churches asking for baptism!

He uses Seventh-day Adventists and Christians of other denominations who believe 3ABN Latino is an effective tool in reaching people. They’ve been blessed by our programming, and they’re convinced that others should have the same opportunity.

God also uses cable executives who are already carrying our signal. They receive positive feedback from their subscribers, then tell other cable operators about us, encouraging them to add 3ABN Latino to their lineup, as well.

Still others simply contact us and say they’ve been watching and would like to add our programming to their system, too. Praise the Lord!

The Good News

The good news is that people are coming to Jesus for salvation!

People like Nidia, who had lived a tough life. Mistreated by her mother and beaten by her father, she married in hopes of having a brighter future. But sadly, her dreams were shattered when her marriage crumbled.

My mother-in-law, Idalia, began talking to her and encouraging her to watch 3ABN Latino. When she’d come for a visit, she’d watch some of our programming since my mother-in-law’s TV is usually tuned to 3ABN Latino. Eventually Nidia began watching 3ABN Latino at home on the Internet and was encouraged by the Bible studies my mother-in-law was giving her.

The Joy of Decision

A few months ago our production staff travelled to Puerto Rico to broadcast several live events. One event was held at the Seventh-day Adventist church in Pozuelo, and the church members secured a van to transport other members and visitors who were interested in going to the evangelistic series.

Every night evangelist Alejandro Bullón made an appeal for people to come forward if they were interested in baptism, but Nidia was so shy that this seemed out of the question for her. Finally, on the Friday night before the scheduled baptism, she began to make her way to the front!

My father-in-law decided to accompany and encourage her, lest her shyness prevent her from going all the way up. He need not have worried, though, because later that night, Nidia’s comment on her Facebook page expressed her joy for having decided to give her heart to Jesus.

The following afternoon, members of Seventh-day Adventist churches all over the island gathered at a reserved spot on the beach for a joyous and massive baptism service. As they announced baptismal candidates from her area, shy Nidia was the first one to head into the water! Ever since then she’s stayed in touch with my mother-in-law and is a committed and faithful Christian.

This is what 3ABN Latino is all about—changing lives, and helping to mend broken people.
