Hello. I’m Jill Morikone. We’re quickly approaching another week of inspiring messages from our Anchors of Truth series. This time, we’ve invited Frank Fournier, President of ASI and Eden Valley Institute, to be with us from December 4 through 7 for an important series on righteousness by faith in the context of the Three Angels’ Messages of Revelation 14.
Seventh-day Adventists believe that something very special happened in 1844 because of the dynamic preaching of William Miller and his interpretation of the prophecies in the book of Daniel. 100,000 Christians abandoned their fields and labors and waited that day with great expectation for the Lord Jesus to appear in the clouds of glory. However, when this did not happen, their grief was devastating. What had happened? How could they have been so wrong? Sadly, thousands of them abandoned their faith altogether. October 22, 1844, became known as the Great Disappointment.
But the error was not in Miller’s calculation. The error was in the nature of the event that took place. Jesus had not failed them. They had simply failed to understand what actually happened that day. William Miller had assumed that the cleansing of the sanctuary mentioned in Daniel 8:14 represented the earth being purified at Christ’s Second Coming. What he did not understand was that, just as the earthly sanctuary in the wilderness must be cleansed, the same must go on in the heavenly sanctuary in preparation for the great judgment day.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church has its roots in the Millerite movement, and since 1844 God has wanted to do a great work in our hearts — a work that would purify us so He can pour out His Holy Spirit with power in the Latter Rain and then lighten the whole world with the glory of His character.
However, many have never understood this. Instead of embracing righteousness by faith, they focused instead on distinct doctrines, losing sight of the big picture. Now it’s our turn to decide: Will we do what as the last four generations have done? What will we do with the gift of God’s dear Son and His all-powerful righteousness?
Be sure to join us for this important Anchors of Truth series that will revolutionize the way you think about righteousness by faith. This series may well change your life.
