3ABN Radio FAQs

by Nikki Anderson

We get many phone calls and e-mails from listeners around the world each week. Here are some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

1.  Where can I locate your network on my radio?

3ABN Radio Network is similar to many other networks in that we provide programming to affiliate radio stations around the world that rebroadcast it on their designated frequencies. When you tune in to, let’s say, 95.9 FM in your area, you’ll get whatever is being broadcast on that frequency by a local radio station. If you start driving out of your area, you’ll eventually drive beyond their coverage pattern and begin to pick up whatever is being broadcast on 95.9 FM in another station’s coverage area.

You’ll have to find out if there is a local 3ABN Radio affiliate station in your area. The easiest way to do that is to visit our website, 3abnradio.org, roll over “Networks” in the menu bar, then roll over the “3ABN Radio” sub-menu item, and then choose “3ABN Radio Affiliates” from the fly-out menu. All the radio affiliates are listed alphabetically.

2.  How can I start a radio station in my area?

In the United States, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) governs when new radio station applications will be accepted. They will not accept them at any other time. If you watch their fcc.gov website regularly for filing period announcements, you’ll know what is being offered and who is eligible to apply.

Meanwhile, you still have some other options: You can buy or lease an existing radio station. A local real estate agent can help you find a media broker in your area, or they may know of media property for sale or lease. If you’re in a relatively small market, your local Chamber of Commerce may be able to help.

You can also contact a local radio station and ask if they’re interested in adding new programming to their line-up. If they are, tell them our programming is provided free of charge, and invite them to visit our website, 3abnradio.org. There they can listen to our live broadcast, view our daily schedule, and read a description of each program. If they’re interested, encourage them to contact us for further details about broadcasting our programming.

Of course, if you apply and are granted a construction permit from the FCC, please let us know and we’ll be happy to discuss how you can become a 3ABN Radio affiliate.

3.  How can I get a copy of a program I heard on the radio?

The best thing to do is write down the date and time you heard the program. If you know this and you have access to the Internet, then visit our 3abnradio.org website, click “Schedule” in the menu bar, choose “Radio” from the drop-down list at the top of the schedule, and change the calendar date to view a particular day’s broadcast schedule. This will give you the program number, title, speaker/host, and guest(s) for the program you’re looking for. Then just call 3ABN at 618-627-4651 and ask for the Call Center. Our friendly customer service representatives will be happy to take your order for that program. If you have an approximate date but don’t have access to the Internet, or if you’re not sure when you heard the program, then call me at 618-627-4651, ext. 3500, and I’ll try my best to figure out what program you heard. However, my detective skills sometimes fail me when I don’t have enough information to go on. I really dislike having to disappoint listeners seeking a particular program that blessed them, so I’ll do my best not to!

4.  Can I purchase one of the short Bible stories or poems I hear between programs?

Yes, we now have many of those available for you to purchase—just as you would a regular program. Just call 3ABN and ask for the Call Center (see Question 3).

We hope this information has helped answer some of the questions you might have about 3ABN Radio. As always, we appreciate your prayers and support for us and all our affiliates around the world.
