3ABN Latino Network has just announced plans to launch a brand new radio network this fall. “Today our Latino television network can be seen in every Spanish-speaking country in the world by satellite, and over 1,000 cable systems,” says 3ABN Latino general manager, John Dinzey. “Historically we’ve added a remarkable 100 cable systems each year, but in the first four months of this year, we’ve already added 180 new systems—many of which serve multiple cities! But as we see this tremendous growth in our television ministry, the need has become more urgent for a radio network to reach a different audience, including those who cannot afford cable television. Our prayers for direction were unexpectedly answered recently when someone called about our radio network. When I told him we didn’t have one yet, he seemed surprised, but called back a few minutes later to say that his organization would be sending us a check to cover the initial equipment and start-up costs!
“I could hardly contain myself as I said, ‘Praise the Lord! This means we can reach millions of people with the message of hope and salvation through Jesus Christ!’”
Technology Advances Cut Costs
John says that last October 3ABN Radio Network staff contacted him saying that advances in technology have significantly cut start-up costs for a new radio network. Those same advances will help drastically cut program conversion time, since 3ABN Latino Radio will initially rely upon the audio portion of its television programming, while producing new radio programs.
“We’re so grateful for the 3ABN Radio staff,” John says. “With their help we will be able to launch 3ABN Latino Radio Network faster and more smoothly than we could have imagined! We plan to be on the air by September of this year, and we ask for the prayers and support of our faithful friends, since it will cost an additional $1,200 a month in satellite uplink fees.
“Our time is short on this earth, but we’re excited, since we’ll soon be able to share wonderful stories of changed lives from those who will be listening to 3ABN Latino Radio Network, as well!”
