Questions About 3ABN's Online Broadcast Streams

I want to watch 3ABN online. How can I do that?

There are several ways to watch 3ABN online (or 3ABN Latino, 3ABN Proclaim!, 3ABN Russia, Dare to Dream Network, Kids Network Channel). All of them require a high speed internet connection of at least 0.5 MB per second (500 KB/sec). Please see below for more about internet speed requirements. Options for watching 3ABN online include:

  • Watch on our website. You can watch most of the video channels on our website using our web-based player, which automatically streams Flash or HTML5 video, depending on the computer/device.
  • Watch on your tablet, smartphone, or mobile device. 3ABN apps are available for Android devices (tablets and phones), as well as Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch). Please see the section for mobile apps, below.
Watch on MYSDAtv connected to a TV. (3 models to choose from) Please visit MYSDA.org for more information and to purchase your box. All Adventist content.

I want to listen to 3ABN Radio. How can I do that?

Options for listening to 3ABN Radio (or 3ABN Latino Radio, or 3ABN Russia Radio) online include:

What Internet browsers can I use?

If you use a PC, then Internet Explorer or Firefox will work best for you. Opera should work as well. If you use a Mac, then you can use Safari or Firefox.

What download speed is required for watching 3ABN video channels?

The minimum bandwidth speed requirement is 0.5 MB per second (500 KB/sec). Most high speed internet is 1.5 MB or faster, which is more than adequate. To check your Internet download speed, visit www.SpeakEasy.net, click on the SPEED TEST icon, and select the city nearest you. Your download speed will be automatically checked. Make sure the download speed is at least 500 Kbps (0.5 Mbps). Most speeds are well over this, but if yours is lower than 0.5Mbps, the player may not work properly.

My video keeps cutting out or is jerky. What is causing this?

First make sure you are meeting the 500 Kbps minimum Internet speed required (see the question on Internet download speed above). Then make sure you do not have other computers or devices on your network that are using up your bandwidth, such as a VOIP phone like Vonage or MagicJack.

I'm having problems with the sound or image. What should I do?

There are a number of possible causes for no video or sound:
  • Is there an error? Are you receiving an error message? If so, that would be a key to troubleshooting the issue.
  • JavaScript is required. If you see a gray box instead of the player, the cause is probably that JavaScript is disabled. (Note: Java and JavaScript are not the same thing. It is OK if Java is disabled.)
  • Flash may be required. If you use a desktop computers and laptops, whether Windows or Mac, should sure you have the latest version of Flash installed. You can use this page or this page to see what version of Flash you have.
  • Check your internet speed. If you have less than 1 Mbps (1000 Kbps), it is possible that your internet connection will require more time to buffer and start to stream/play the programs. If you have less than 500 Kbps (0.5 Mbps), you may not be able to watch. You can use Speedtest to check your internet speed; the download speed is the important one.
  • Check browser settings. Some browsers (or browser add-ons) may block content. Verify that Internet Explorer, if that's what you're using, does not have a "Show All Content" button at the bottom, or if it does, be sure to click it. You may also need to try disabling any other security or ad-blocking add-ons/extensions; although we don't know of any that currently interfere, it is a possibility.
  • Is the problem persistent? There are times that intermittent transmission errors can interrupt the service for a short period of time. This could be due to wifi interference, other users using the same network, storms or power issues, or temporary issues at 3ABN's headquarters.

My video player (or browser, or system) is crashing. What should I do?

Try these steps, in order: General tips:
  • Before changing anything on your system, be sure that you have complete backups and that you know how to restore files and settings if you make a mistake. We cannot help you with files you permanently delete, settings you change incorrectly, or with backups that you don’t know how to use. Most of the following suggestions require a fairly high degree of technical computer skill, and there is always some risk of loss or damage with any system-level change. The results of following any of these suggestions is purely at your own risk; any loss if your own responsibility. You may wish to get help from an experienced computer user or technician.
  • First, be sure you have tried restarting your computer. Often a restart will fix an occasional software glitch.
  • Check if the problem occurs when using another user account on the same computer. (You may need to create one.) If the problem is specific to one user account, it is most likely due to corrupted settings in that user’s account. In that case, use another user account. (You may also be able to find and replace/delete the offending settings file to solve the problem, but we cannot help with that process.)
  • Try reinstalling Flash.
  • Make sure you are not running two or more antivirus programs at the same time. They can conflict with each other and cause all sorts of problems.
For Windows users:
  • Complete steps in general tips, above.
  • Check if there are newer versions of your video driver software and/or audio driver software. To do this, you must be familiar with your video and audio hardware components, so that you know what website to get the drivers from and which driver(s) to download. Due to the wide variety of hardware manufacturers and differences in steps in how to update drivers, we cannot provide specific steps.
  • Try closing programs running in the background, and disabling or removing unimportant background applications or services. Windows has a built-in tool that can help with this process, called msconfig.exe. Please see this website for instructions on how to use it: http://www.netsquirrel.com/msconfig/index.html (note that there are different steps for each version of Windows). You can also use the Control Panel to remove unwanted/unused software.
  • Try CCleaner: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner. This software is designed to clean up junk files and broken registry settings on your computer. In some cases, this can resolve crashes. Warning: This software will erase files and data from your system. In normal circumstances, what it erases is digital junk you do not need, but there is no guarantee. While it is a popular software program and is considered safe, there is a chance you could lose important files or data. Use at your own risk.
For Mac users:
  • Complete steps in general tips, above.
  • Check for Apple software updates.
  • Try closing programs running in the background, and disabling or removing unimportant background applications or services.
  • Try using OnyX ("Automation" tab, default settings) or Cocktail ("Pilot" tab, default settings) to clean your system. This software is designed to clean up junk files and repair disk settings on your computer. In some cases, this can resolve crashes. Warning: This software will erase files and data from your system. In normal circumstances, what it erases is digital junk you do not need, but there is no guarantee. While it is a popular software program and is considered safe, there is a chance you could lose important files or data. Use at your own risk. You should restart your computer afterwards.
For tablet and smartphone users:
  • Try using the apps for your device (see below), instead of the streaming broadcast in a browser.

Downloading 3ABN Videos

Currently 3ABN does not offer high-quality (480p, 780p, 1080p) digital videos of the programs that air. We do have some programs online in Windows Media Player format at http://www.3abn.com/, but the video size is small (360 x 240 pixels or smaller). For your convenience, you can check our program schedule page to see when the program will air again. Here is the link to the schedule page: http://3abn.org/schedule/ You can also order past programs on DVD from our store: http://store.3abn.org/

Can I watch 3ABN's online broadcasts on my mobile device?

Yes, there are several options:
  1. If your device supports either Flash or HTML5 video, you can watch our website streams on your device. This works on iPhone, iPad, and Android browsers.
  2. 3ABN app for Android: Works with all Android-based devices, including the Samsung Galaxy series, Motorola Droid series, Amazon Kindle Fire, HTC Evo series, Google Nexus series, and many more.
  3. 3ABN app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch: Requires iOS 7 or later.
  4. 3ABN Lite app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch: Requires iOS 5 or later.
  5. TuneIn Radio app for Android, Apple mobile devices, and various smartphones. See below for details.
(The previous TVUPlayer app is no longer available, since that company ceased their streaming video operations.)
